Country Junction Band

counrty-junction-bandThe band that Gene Williams says is the best band in Branson, the Country Junction Band, is featured on this week’s telecast of the "Gene Williams Country Television Show," the only weekly television show, sponsored by Lucas Oil, that takes Branson to more than 20.5 million homes coast-to-coast and border-to-border.

"My band has some of the best pickers in town," said Williams, the creator, producer and star of the "Gene Williams Show." Gene Williams’ Country Junction Band includes Steve Wilkerson Sr. as the band director. Wilkerson has worked for 12 years with Charlie Louvin at the Grand Ole Opry, the Whites, Roy Clark and Hee Haw. Terry Bethel is on steel guitar. He has performed on the Grand Ole Opry and has worked with Mel Tillis for 20 years.

Doug Wright on bass guitar is with the 14 Karat Country Band and has worked with Tanya Tucker and Ricky Skaggs. David Byrd, keyboard, has been seen on the Grand Ole Opry stage and performed with Box Car Willie. Shawn Pittman, fiddle, has performed with Moe Band, at Silver Dollar City, the Carolina Opry in Myrtle Beach, with his family’s blue grass band and in Nashville. Rob Wilson, drums, has performed with Ronnie Prophet and Dalena Ditto.

Mountain Dew, harmonica, has performed with Country Tonite, Norma Jean, won Branson’s Harmonica Player of the Year Award three times and is in the Branson Entertainer Hall of Fame. He has opened for John Anderson, Tom T. Hall, Bobby Bare, Vern Gosdin, Sammy Kershaw. His mentor is Charlie McCoy.

The show featuring the Country Junction Band will be televised on Saturday, Jan. 28, and Sunday, Jan. 29.
