Darren Romeo's show, a must see!

Darren Romeo and Kristy Michaelson4-04-06: I had the opportunity to see The Darren Romeo show for the first time on March 27th and March 28th of this year. My friend Barbara from Germany flew all the way to America and we went together. She has seen the Darren Romeo show many times and had told me I would love it.

I have been a Siegfried and Roy fan for many years and I knew that Darren Romeo is their protégé and that he was a singing magician. So my curiosity was up. Yes that was a good thing. But he still had to prove himself. It was still sink or swim time. After seeing the show I can honestly say, HE SWIMS!!! He is amazing. The SHOW is amazing!

On the evening of March 26th we arrived at the end of the performance and went to sit in the lobby because we knew he would be there after the show. Darren and his assistant, Kristy, came out to greet the fans that wanted to get autographs and pictures or just say hi. I thought it was a very nice touch. I sat there and watched Darren and Kristy enter the lobby amongst huge cheers. I watched Darren and Kristy very carefully as the long line of men, women, teenagers and small children made their way to them. With every single person, Darren and Kristy made sure each got what they asked for whether that be an autograph, a picture with them, or just a few words of greeting. Everyone was treated as if they were the most important person in their lives at that moment.

I have to say it was very touching. Darren and Kristy probably learned this from their mentors, Siegfried and Roy. I have seen Mr. Siegfried and Mr. Roy with their long time assistant and close friend, Lynette Chappell, who was the evil queen in their show greet their fans as if they were the most important person in their lives at that moment. It is a gift and a very rare one in my opinion.

Ok, at this point I knew Darren and Kristy had big hearts and appreciated their fans very much. But, were they talented? Was the show going to be any good?

I would find out the next night.

From the shows’ very beginning, all my questions were answered. I was on the edge of my seat from the very start right through to the end of the show. Darren could do a show solely with his singing, or a show just with his magic, or a show only with his impressions. When you add all these elements together with his great personality and abundant energy; well, I was in awe the whole show! Then, you must also consider Kristy with her wonderful facial expressions and accomplished dancing, not to mention she can sing too! What a voice!

Darren Romeo and Jeff Gordon's racecarMy favorite illusions were the floating light bulb, the tiger tail illusion, and of course his new illusion. Well, EVERYONE has to see this new illusion where Darren makes Jeff Gordon’s car disappear! It is so cute the way they lead up to it and then it just takes your breath away to see it appear and then disappear a few minutes later right before your very eyes!

Darren does impressions as well as he sings and does his magic. In fact, I must say that his impressions were one of my favorite parts of his show. He touches all generations, as he starts off with Louis Armstrong, then goes into Elton John, Prince, the Back Street Boys, among others. You will find yourself laughing so hard it will bring tears to your eyes! His impression of Siegfried singing is, alone, worth the price of admission!

Darren has one of the most beautiful voices that I have ever heard. The songs and notes are not easy. But Darren makes it look easy. When you watch Darren and Kristy on stage, you can tell how much they love what they are doing. And it makes the audience enjoy the show even more.

Darren is really good about involving his audience and you can see the huge eyes of wonderment on little children’s faces as Darren walks through the audience. Darren has two huge screens, one to the left and one to the right of the stage. He has cameras throughout the audience so that he is projected on the screens at all times; even when he is mingling with the audience during his show.

My friend Barbara from Germany said there are many new things in the show and new twists on others. It really is great how they keep changing things and adding things so that it keeps it fresh for those who come back every year.

This is not a show to come and see one night. I think it is great to schedule going to The Darren Romeo show at least two or three times while in Branson if you can. It is a live show after all and it is fun to see things each night. With a Season’s Pass you can come see the show as much as you want with a value, which is equivalent to the price of two nights admission. That is great value in this day and age of high prices.

Darren is one of the most refreshing talents to come along in a long time. Kristy is a great complement to him and the show. The show is in a word, awesome.

This show is a must see. As a newcomer to The Darren Romeo phenomena, I can only say I AM HOOKED!!!!

Darren should receive awards for “Best Performer” and “Best Show” for the year 2006.

I am already looking ahead to seeing the show again next year. It is worth coming to Branson just to see The Darren Romeo Show itself.

I hope Darren performs for many years to come.
