On Wednesday, November 19th, Music City Center was filled to the balcony level as the Best Show Family hit the stage at 3:00pm. The first half showcased the seven brothers and one sister as they all took turns singing and playing their different instruments. Many of the sets included fantastic choreography and delightful shenanigans from the siblings as well.
After intermission, Chad Ray presented the award for Best Show Family 2008. He read the following fan quotes:
“From beginning to end, you will be coming out of your seat with excitement! This family of 7 brothers and 1 sister family are overflowing with pure talent and energy. The show is unmatched in entertainment. You will enjoy violin, guitar, drums, piano, harp, (to name a few), along with unparalleled dancing, tap, gymnastics, and of course singing. You will leave feeling GREAT and knowing you definitely got more than your moneys worth. Sasha"
"The Haygoods – wow! They are such a dynamic family, that it’s almost hard to put into enough words to cover all their abilities. Each one of them brings something different to the show, on and off the stage.
Tim is incredible. He does all the behind the scenes work - managing the theatre this year, too. He puts a lot of hard work and dedication into their show. The family would not be where they are today without him.
Patrick comes next in the line…..and does a fantastic job. Patrick has so much energy for life, and for music, and it shines though when he sings. He is one of the best performers I have seen.
Dominic is next in line, and he has so much energy. Dominic is the reason the show works so well. He has quite a voice, and is an amazing Sax player. I could listen to him every day.
Shawn is next, and wow!! Shawn can dance. He is a drummer and a tapper, and boy can this boy tap! It’s incredible to watch him.
Mike comes next, and this boy can ROCK! He does an amazing version of “Danny Boy,” and also “Go Rest High.” He sings both songs with so much love and passion that it really shines though.
Matt is back in the show more, and the fans will tell you that we are so very happy to see him there, front of the stage singing with the rest of the family.
Cat is next, the only girl in the family. She is AMAZING! There is true girl power when she is on stage.
Aaron brings up the rear, but it’s so hard to tell he’s the youngest. He has grown up so much in the last couple years, he has really stepped up to do good things up front this year!
The Haygoods are one incredible family, and I would recommend them to ANYONE that is going to Branson. They appeal to any age group, and they use so much energy in their show, that you will leave the show wanting more. Bender1215”
Dominic and Patrick accepted the award for the Haygood family and thanked the fans and Branson Critic for the award. A whole second half of Christmas music followed - after which the fans brought the house down in appreciation for another fantastic show from the Haygoods!
Watch for the show in their new location next year at the Americana Theatre location. Additional shows playing there will include Tony Roi and the Elvis Experience, Red, Hot, and Blue, and Cassandre!! Branson Critic wishes all of them every success in their new venue!
